Auckland Folk Festival celebrates its half century in 2023.

Fifty years ago, Auckland's original folkies gathered at Moller's farm to sing, dance and play together. In January, the festival welcomes everyone to its "new" site in Kumeū ( for more than 25 years...) to celebrate this significant milestone and to continue the singing, dancing and playing together.

We're planning another great weekend, with a talented and creative artist line-up and the usual programme highlights on the stages, the dance programme, workshops and blackboard sessions, along with the very popular late night singing, dance and music sessions.

In addition, to celebrate the 50th, we're putting together a visual history of the festival, with original and archived publicity material sourced from a number of people and clubs. We're on the look-out for more material, so please contact us by email to info@aucklandfolkfestival.co.nz if you have any taonga you wish to share. It is a formal archiving project with the Auckland Libraries Research West and any material can be copied and archived safely.

We're also creating a part of the programme for the artists who have supported the festival throughout its history and we'll be making more announcements about that soon.
